Matthews Cutting Horses was first established in in the small east coast town of Turkey, North Carolina. The original farm was home to the Matthews family for three generations, and is where the family-owned pork and poultry business originated decades ago.
 

Jeffrey Matthews is very connected to his east coast roots in North Carolina, and feels strongly that the farm is an ideal location for the Matthews broodmares and young stock to reside and thrive. It is where the offspring reside until just before their 2-year-old year, when they are sent to the Matthews cutting horses location in Weatherford, TX, where Jeffrey and Sheri Matthews reside today.

In Weatherford, the 2-year-olds are started in the Matthews’ program for 60 – 120 days, and then are placed with some of the finest trainers in the performance horse industry today.
